DANBURY — Today, it’s Panasonic or Toshiba or Sharp. But at the dawn of the TV era, it was Philco or Zenith or RCA — sets with tiny, static-laden screens enclosed in wooden cases that made them look like furniture.

In what could be seen as the continued Starbucks-ification of Valencia Street, brick-and-mortar coffee purveyors Ritual Coffee Roasters recently pulled the work of photographer Varese Layzer . For a decade, the U.S. Food and Drug Administration was aware of problems at a Wisconsin manufacturer of medical products, including alcohol wipes, but took no enforcement action. Now those wipes have been linked to a deadly bacterium.
